Wow, has it really been over a month?!
While I knew it had been a while since I updated, I was surprised that it had been well over a month since i posted. The shame, the shame! To be honest, I haven't been terribly productive on the knitting front. I had started on Cosmopolitan (a Jo Sharp design), and then frogged it after making one side of the wrap a suitable size for an elephant. but uni commitments have prevented me from doing much else....
....until Easter weekend. I managed to finish off a scarf for a work mate (and forgot to photograph it), and started on a diagonal rib jumper for Matt.
It's from a delightfully 70's Patons leaflet entitled 'Suave Sweaters', where every jumper has been vacuum-sealed to the wearer, they are so snug-fitting. I will be opting for one size larger than recommended, to give the boy the ability to breath properly when he wears it.
Again, I'll be using Bendigo Woollen Mills 5ply in olive. I had so much left over from the vest that I could have just about made the jumper just out of that, but a quick trip to the Woollen Mills has ensured that I'll definitely have enough (and probably still will be swimming in olive green 5ply after it's done).
This is the first garment I've made for him, but I'm not too worried about the Sweater Curse at this stage. He's always oohing and aahing over my knitting, and has been thanking me for making him a jumper, so I know at least the appreciation is there, which I think makes up the majority of the Sweater Curse.
While buying the yarn for the jumper, I also picked up some sock yarn for my Dad's birthday present. The photo shows the yarn pretty well, but the red has come out a little pink, and it's all a little blurry.
I'm a little daunted by the task of knitting socks, but I'm sure it won't be too bad, once I get started. His birthday isn't till right at the end of May, so that should give me plenty of time to knit them up 3 or 4 times before I'm satisfied!

Hi Nichola. Sorry about the delay in replying, for some reason I didn't get email notification of your comment.... very strange.
I knew there was a Stitch N Bitch in Melbourne, and I've toyed with the idea of going to one (I get a bit shy around people I don't know, so I've never got past the 'thinking about it' stage), however my uni commitments mean that I'm chained to my desk most of the time - I only really get to knit on the short commute to uni, and socialising has become a distant memory.
When I'm on holidays between semesters, I'll have a lot more time then, and I might just get the courage to mosey on over to a meet up. Thanks for the offer!
